More About Libby Clearfield
Libby Clearfield has been a performer since birth, as her father loves to recount the story that she said her first word just moments after being born, when she looked up at her dad and said, “Da”. She’s been talking ever since, and oftentimes in an accent other than her own.
Performing in her first play at the ripe age of 5 as the character of Gretl in “The Sound of Music”, this began a love of the arts and entertainment that has carried her through decades, from theater to on-camera to voiceover, as well as to the other side of the curtain/camera/microphone.
Libby’s journey began in the theater, performing in plays all throughout adolescence, eventually moving to New York for college where she earned her BFA in Drama with a focus in Acting and Directing from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She continued her education by moving to Israel to earn her MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Tel Aviv University, while simultaneously teaching English at a public elementary school as well as acting in and directing several community theater productions.
An adventurer at heart, Libby has lived and traveled all around the world, and while she was born and raised in Texas, she identifies strongly with the cultures of places she once lived in New York City, Los Angeles, and Tel Aviv. She has been in Colorado since 2015, however, and can’t deny her love of the mountains and lack of humidity. She likes to think all of this exploration has made her particularly astute when it comes to detecting an accent or dialect and prides herself on being able to sound like she belongs wherever she goes.
Libby loves that she gets to talk to herself in a small padded room all day, and she truly appreciates getting to bring characters to life, no matter the setting. She is grateful to be able to call this a career, and she looks forward to every new opportunity in this amazing industry.
Sustainable Organizations Libby Clearfield
Man, there are a lot of organizations I’d like to donate to! Some that particularly stand out to me are Wild Nosh, because I recently lost my best furry friend of 15 years, my dog Ludwig, and firmly believe that the nutritious foods he ate helped contribute to him living such a long life with me, for which I am eternally grateful. Ocean First Institute is dedicated to research and education as a means of helping conserve our oceans and marine wildlife. I earned my scuba certification from OceanFirst and so greatly appreciate the depth of knowledge that I gained by learning from them, as well as the care and attention they give to preserving our marine environment. Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection because I’ve been an advocate and lover of chimpanzees since childhood and cannot imagine a world without them. Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action and The Sierra Club because the climate crisis is real and I believe everyone deserves to live in a just and equitable world.
