More About Audrey
Growing up in Tennessee with an engineer for a father and a therapist for a mother, Audrey says that she got the best of both worlds.
And, that is why she is a “techy-feely” kind of human!
After over 30 years in education, Audrey took her interest in audio to another level is ready to mirror her techy side with the feely side of communication through voice.
Audrey loves to combine both technical and emotion-led communication and can rely on her background in education to bring more technically oriented voiceover projects to life in a natural and relatable way.
As a youngster, Audrey would play with her father’s oscilloscope in the garage and try to make the sine waves change by tapping on things that it would “hear”. This began the long fascination with what these instruments could do and how to manipulate sound. Before becoming a voiceover artist, the bulk of her career was in higher education coming into instructional technology as it was shifting to digital. She was excited to being able to work with digital audio and video from the beginning…it was her new oscilloscope!
She has written and produced science museum exhibits and demonstrations, created short television spots teaching science, trained college faculty on creating online classes, led an educational and multimedia technology department, and eventually retired as the Vice-President of Information Services/Chief Information Officer for the largest community college in Tennessee. All of these experiences have helped her create “The Sky is NOT The Limit” – a video series exploring the science and emotion of space, weather and the sky. Episodes are released every two weeks on LinkedIn, BlueSky and YouTube feeds.
Environmental Organizations Audrey Supports
I believe in the phrase “Think Globally Act Locally” and love to support groups who work for systemic changes to societal problems as well as animal welfare and habitat protection.
- Community Shares has long had my support through their workplace giving program as well as volunteer hours over the years. Community Share provides support to 28 progressive non-profit organizations, called Member Groups, that work every day to make Tennessee more equitable and just.
- I also support Habitat for Humanity through donations and on building projects in my city. Affordable housing is so important in every community.
- And, as a birding fan, I also support Cornell Lab of Ornithology, both through their citizen science projects as well as donations.
- The McCauley Library and research on Bioacoustics is amazing – technologically and ecologically. It’s 100% techy-feely!
