Sustainable Organizations J.R. Guzmán Supports
Azul is a grassroots organization working with Latinos to conserve marine resources. Founded in 2011, Azul has developed and executed campaigns that achieved groundbreaking ocean conservation policy victories in California, including a shark fin ban and the first statewide ban of single-use plastic bags in the country. I am a proud supporter of Azul’s efforts here in California, as showcased by the Azul voiceover spot that I included on my Commercial Demo.
Earthjustice is the United States’ largest environmental law organization. Founded in the 1960s, Earthjustice attorneys have since supported various major environmental wins including the Clean Air Act and the Endangered Species Act. The organization works with activists, national politicians, international policymakers, and individuals to protect and strengthen laws for the benefit of people and a healthy planet. As an HR Professional for over a decade, I know that legislation is the most powerful tool for change not only in the workplace, but for our planet earth. Earthjustice has protected countless species on the brink of extinction, and secured long-overdue, historic limits on our nation’s worst polluting industries.
The Trevor Project is a non-profit suicide prevention organization whose #1 goal is to end suicide among LGBTQIA+ young people. They achieve this by providing 24/7 crisis support, conducting research, and advocating for policies that support LGBTQIA+ youth mental health. Their work encompasses crisis intervention, prevention, and education, aiming to create a world where LGBTQ young people feel safe and supported. I often reflect on how privileged I am to have grown up with a loving family and supportive community. I believe in supporting organizations that uplift and inspire younger generations to achieve their fullest potential, as they are the ones who will be fighting for the planet’s survival long after we are gone.
